our advent calendar

the kids and i spent the afternoon working on making an advent calendar. when i started this project, i intended it to turn out far differently but i am happy with what we ended up with. i spray painted a cookie sheet and put some decorative scrapbook paper on it and had it all ready to start putting little handmade numbers on it by sticking them to magnets. but the magnets i got weren't strong enough to stick to the cookie sheet. it was very sad. i was determined to finish the project anyway and the kids were actually into and excited about a project so i kept working on it. with drew's adorable encouragment, she stuck all my magnets on the fridge and said we could have a fridge calendar. and why not? so here is our unconventional, whimsical and so very us advent calendar. it's all just scrapbook paper, black marker, some ribbon and odds and ends that the kids scavenged up from around the house.
