We have a toddler!
Well, it is official! Drew was taking steps on her own for a while, but not really "walking" until last week...she just started to do it on her own a ton and now she tries to walk everywhere. She is still slow, but she's very steady and seems to get great joy from walking to things that she wants. I will post pictures of her in action soon. We've taken lots of videos, but no pics lately.

A letter to Drew for Mother's Day
Well, this past Sunday was my very first Mother's Day with a baby in the outside world. I remember how important Mother's Day seemed to me last year, after all, I was a mother to a baby already...I just hadn't met her yet. I remember thinking that carrying a child must be the equivalent to actually having one out here and caring for a baby for real. I had no idea what having a child would mean and how hard and at the same time rewarding it would be. I had no idea that there would be times I wouldn't want to be a mom, and then moments later realizing how fortunate and wonderful my life is with Drew in it.
The first few weeks of having a baby were so overwhelming. I can barely remember the whirlwind that occurred, getting to know my baby all while trying to figure out her cries, her wants, her needs, learning to nurse, dealing with horrible pain from nursing, learning to venture out of the house with her in tow and nursing her on demand even when we were nowhere convenient. I learned that modesty goes out the window when you become a mom. I learned that just brushing my teeth would be the equivalent of a cute outfit, make up and blow dried hair. I learned that no one cares what I look like anyway, since they are all oogling the baby :)
Drew has taught me so many wonderful lessons, lessons in patience, lessons in putting someone before me, lessons in functioning on very little sleep and keeping a sense of humor through rough days and nights.
As I celebrated my first Mother's Day this week, I kept hugging and kissing my baby girl and reminding myself that the best mother's day gift of all is that I get to be this amazing baby girls mom. I will always be mom to her no matter what. I will always be who she needs when she is down. When she is older and sad, she'll call me to be cheered up. When she is older and happy, she'll call me to celebrate. This amazing baby girl will always be MY daughter, and what a wonderful gift that is. Here is a picture of us on Mother's Day before daddy took us to dinner :)
