Wall Letters
Drew has had a letter "D" on her wall for a while, but she's wanted her whole name. We finally got around to it over the weekend. Jason helped with the trimming of the scrapbook paper that we used to decoupage the letters. Drew was very interested in the whole project and if only we were nicer parents, we'd have let her play with the razorblade herself. As it is, she just got to watch and then pose with her name on the wall.

Beach
When Jason got home from his long day at work today, we decided to hit the beach for some good old fashioned family time. We packed up some food and beach gear and headed out. It was a perfect evening for it - warm and breezy - and we had a really wonderful time. You might not even be able to tell from the photos that Eli was at the doctor this morning for an ear infection and that Drew has been on antibiotics for a week for an ear infection of her own. What can I say? The beach makes me feel better, too.

A trip to the fort
Drew has been begging to go to the fort and actually go inside instead of just running around the grounds outside. This morning, while Jason was finishing the last wall of our new bedroom, we decided to get out of his hair so we went to the fort and went inside. Actually, the kids spent more time outside running around but just being able to go in and check out all the rooms was fun for them. Not nearly as fun as trying to climb the fort and sitting on cannons though.

Anyone think she is going to be a natural rock climber like her daddy?

Are They Cute Or What?

Last week, Eli was having a very "two" moment. He was whining and just in general was disagreeing with everything. "Do you want a drink?" "Yes" "Okay, here's your drink" "NO!"
After a little more whining and disagreeing, I said, "Are you two or what?" and he replied, "I what!"
So, I know if I asked him if they're cute or what, what his answer would be. But I think they're cute anyway.
A New Pet
The kids got a new pet. I know, it's a ton of work and responsibility, but we really wanted the dogs to have another friend, and you know, they are getting old, so we thought we should start thinking ahead.
We haven't named him yet. He likes his comfy bed in the living room.

Drew is constantly checking on him to see if he's turned into a butterfly yet :)

Our Easter
Despite finding myself sick yesterday afternoon, I was able to pull off Easter. I stayed up late last night to make playdoh to put in easter eggs, hide easter baskets and set up an egg hunt. That all went over quite well.
Drewbie spotting her easter basket (no, not the pink one next to her) and flashes me a happy smile before getting it.

Digging into her eggs

Eli going through his goodies

His favorite was jelly beans.

At one point, Drew said, "The easter bunny knows us really well!" since they got lots of things they like. Funny how that happens.

I think this look means "keep your hands off my jelly beans"

The egg hunt around the house begins

Happy Drew

Eli would shake the eggs when he found them. If they rattled, he'd say "beans!" and keep them and if they didn't, he'd leave them. Here he is shaking eggs.

While food was cooking, we played outside

Then dinner was ready. I made ham, baked mashed potatoes, corn and a pumpkin pie. Both kids cleared their plates and asked for seconds. At one point, Drew said "My tummy is saying 'this food is so yummy!'" :)

Way Up High
Amidst all the preparation for Easter today, Drew wanted us to hang the birdhouses we made last week. Jason and I ventured way up high to put them up. Who knew that spur of the moment little project from last week would turn into something that makes us smile every time we walk out the back door now? They look fantastic. Nice job, Drewbie (on the birdhouses and on not dropping the new camera while snapping photos).
