A November Day at the Beach

We spent hours at the beach this morning just running around, splashing, exploring, digging, and finding seashells. What a beautiful day for it. I was feeling so lucky that this is the place we call home so we can do things like this on a gorgeous day in November.

He's a little bigger now than the last time I had him on my shoulders at the beach!

All Jammied Up

We take the dip in temperatures seriously here. The kids could not wait to wear their new jammies tonight. When I got home from running with a friend they both ran and hid and jumped out to surprise me and show me the jammie cuteness.

The Upstager

It all started with an innocent attempt at snapping a pic of the kids in the cold weather duds that Grandma Joanne sent a few weeks ago. It's actually cold enough in the mornings now and the kids are always up for wearing something new and cozy.

(Let's just not talk about how big my kids are getting. I don't want to hear it. My fingers are in my ears. They are still babies. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.)

Drew, aka the upstager took over immediately.

Eli got pouty until I said "you know, you could jump in front of Drew if you wanted to". So, he did.

Then they went around and around. Lots of giggles. Lots of fun. As usual.

Last Night at The Lake

On our last night at the cottage, Andy got a new sailboat, 4 loons came to play right off the dock, and mom and I went out in the boat as the sun was setting. I took a bunch of pics and put them on the computer at the cottage, made a disc to bring home and then left it there by accident. Mom sent it to me later and by then Eli had messed up my disc drive so I didn't look at the pics for a long time. I finally got the drive fixed a few weeks ago and forgot I had this disc of photos still. While enjoying a quiet Sunday morning today, I went through them and found a few favorites that have made me smile, miss the cottage, and wish I was there seeing the gorgeous colors of fall and watching the sun set.

Huh

I heard the kitchen chair being dragged along the tile floor and went to see what he was up to. Figuring it was going to have something to do with reaching the Wii or remote controls on the tv, I was totally wrong. He was hanging a laundry basket off of one of the knobs of the armoire and filling it with toys. There was much happiness and running back and forth as he worked busily on this little project he dreamed up. Pretty silly and cute and even though it makes no sense to me, I love watching my kids act out something that their always learning little brains come up with.

My Favorite Picture

Drew got her school pictures this week and I had to go digging in my box of old photos to find pics of me in 1st grade. She actually looks much more like my 2nd grade picture than my 1st grade picture, but whatever. That isn't the point of this post. While digging through my box of old photos I found this one that I have never seen before. I. LOVE. IT.

As Jason said when he saw it "Emily, what is your 27 year old self doing in a picture from 1979?"

:)

I'm framing it and keeping it forever. Love you mom!!

Eli School Stuff Lately

Last week, we got Eli's school pictures to order.

He had a costume parade at school on Friday

(I love the contradiction of how happy Eli is and how bored his friend looks)

And a couple weeks ago, his teachers did a "fall harvest" photo of each of the kids, so they were told to wear fall clothes and they took pics with them on haystacks and with pumpkins. So cute!

I can't believe how big my boy is getting to be. Sigh.

Halloween

The first time I asked Drew what she wanted to be for Halloween this year, she said "a kitty!" without hesitation. Eli wanted to be Thomas the Train. He was James the Train last year, so I will admit I wasn't as excited about his choice. We talked about that he could be a mouse to go along with Drew being a cat and then he decided no, he'd like to be a puppy so he could chase the kitty :)

Here are my kitty and puppy all ready to go trick or treating last night:

(I am not kidding, when I bought the puppy costume I thought it was going to be HUGE on him. I forget my 3 year old is ridiculously tall)
